According to the World Factbook , 5.8 million people live in State of israel (2000 figures). The population is lxxx.1% Jewish (Europe/America-born 32.1%, State of israel-born 20.8%, Africa-born xiv.6%, Asia-born 12.6%) and xix.ix% non-Jewish (mostly Arab) (1996 est.)

Hebrew is the official language, with Arabic used officially for Arab minority. English is the most unremarkably used foreign linguistic communication.

Religion in Israel is reported to be 80.i% Jewish, 14.6% Muslim (more often than not Sunni Muslim), 2.1% Christian, and other 3.two% (1996 est.)

The SIL Ethnologue reports that four.6 million people worldwide speak Hebrew, including 63% of the population of Israel. Five percent of the population of Israel speak Yiddish.

The U.South. Census Bureau reports that over 144,000 people living in the U.S. spoke Hebrew in 1990, making Hebrew number 23 on the Top 50 Languages Spoken in the U.S.
